Mrs. Pinter, HS English teacher, is set to become the TA Middle School Dean of students.
Pinter is looking forward to working with the MS staff the most.
“They [MS staff] are the most dedicated group of people who are clearly all about the kids regardless of what they have to do,” Pinter stated.
She is preparing herself by talking to a lot of people and reading a lot about the position.
This job-change will not be the first time Pinter has worked with MS students. She has taught grades 6th-12th.
Pinter has been teacher for a total of fifteen years. Her student teaching was done in Ohio. She spent two years teaching at a school in Durham City, NC, four years at Chapel Hill in Carraboro, NC and eight years here at TAM&HS.
Although Pinter is excited to take her new position, she will miss her current position.
“I am ready for a new challenge,” Pinter explained, “I want to be a bigger part of this school district and not just a classroom teacher”
The biggest change for Pinter is that her schedule “won’t be driven by a bell.”
What Pinter will miss the most about teaching in the classroom is the constant connection with kids and getting the students to talk about more than just a book—using a book to talk about more important issues.
“My first high school class was when I team taught with Mr. Cammarata. It was a class of sixteen students and they often played pranks on me. I’m still very close with a few of them. There are a couple that I regularly keep in touch with,” Pinter shared about her favorite memory.
“Mrs. Pinter is the best English teacher I’ve ever had,” Lucy Raftery, sophomore stated, “I will definitely miss her next year!”
