TAHS trackletes prepare for districts

By Corey Snyder

Tyrone will be sending fourteen athletes to Mansion Park, in Altoona next Tuesday, May 15, 2012 for the District 6 PIAA AA meet.

When it comes to districts there is a different mindset that comes into play Charles Wilson-Adams, junior track member, said.

“Focusing and working hard on every little technique and staying healthy are a big part of preparation,” Wilson-Adams said.

To get to this point of the season the athletes would have needed to meet the qualifications for their events that they participated in all year.

There are thirty three teams that are competing at the double a level for district 6.

“Preparing for competition is the most important part and it will lead to success. I practice a lot of repetition and try my best all the time,” Hayden Zook, junior, said.

Zook will be competing in the 1600m, 800m, and the 4x400m relay. Wilson-Adams in the high jump, triple jump, and long jump. Cody Dickson, senior, in the high jump, and javelin. Nick Patton, senior, in the 100m, 200m, and the 400m dash. Corey Snyder, junior, in the javelin. Aleic Hunter, freshman, in the 400m dash. Also the 4x400m relay team of Patton, Wilson-Adams, Zook, and Hunter.

For the girls, Jordyn Swogger, sophomore, in the 100m, and the 200m dash. Lexi Patton, sophomore, in the 200m dash. Michaela Diehl, freshman, in the 400m dash. Also the 4x400m relay team of Swogger, Patton, Brittany Friday, and Diehl.

Also competing Olivia Adams, Mikayla Fisher, Karah Kaltenbaugh, Lindsey Kemp, and Grace Mckernan.

N. Patton has been on the injured reserve since the Bellwood Tyrone meet because of his hamstrings but he says that he is ready for districts.

“I believe I am back to one hundred percent. I have been going to therapy at Drayer and doing ARP therapy with the Templetons,” N. Patton said. “ Both really have helped me in recovery.”
