TAHS holds choir banquet and concert

By Sadie Jackson

On Tuesday, May 8 TAHS Concert Choir and POPs Extension enjoyed a banquet held in the high school cafeteria. The food was catered by Mrs. Binus, culinary arts teachers.

At the banquet senior and underclassmen received awards—some were funny and others were as serious as most valuable choir member.

“The best part in my opinion was seeing everyone receive their awards. It was funny to see what ridiculous awards everyone got,” Heather Whalen, senior choir member, said.

The seniors were also given the traditional gift from choir—a copy of “Oh the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss.

“I was so excited to receive my copy of ‘Oh the Places You’ll Go,’ I think it’s a nice addition to the class. It makes graduating a little more meaningful,” Ally Boytim, senior choir member expressed.

On Sunday, May 13, Mother’s Day, the TAHS choir and POPs concert was held.

POPs opened with the National Anthem and the Alma Mater. Concert choir had two standalone songs and three Irish Heritage pieces performed with POPs. After choir performed, the concert switched to a Rock ‘N Roll theme and POPs was on. POPs sang a few standalone pieces, which involved chorography.

Seniors, Rebecca Fry and Breanna Cowher each had their own feature solo, and juniors, Emily Jamison, Allison McGovern and Alexis McKenna performed a song together.

“This has been by far the most fun concert I’ve ever performed. The chorography was great in that we were able to express ourselves more,” Fry stated.
