The first week of May it was announced to middle school dean, Mr. Rhoades that he would be moving to the position of High School Dean of Students, effective the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
Rhoades will be moving to the HS attendance office where Mr. Murphy’s office currently located.
The move will occur over the summer.
Rhoades will be replacing Murphy because he has turned in his resignation and if moving to another job closer to his hometown.
“When I heard the news that Murphy was leaving and Rhoades was coming to the HS, I was a little shocked, but I think the change will be good, and it will be interesting to see how next year turns out,” Brandon Fink, junior, said.
With the coming school year Rhoades will review the HS student handbook and make possible changes that he was discussing this school year.
“I think that next year will be a change, but I think it will be a good year and I think they made a good choice,” Jared Beckwith, sophomore, said.
If changes are made, they will most likely deal with the situations that cause the most problems in school and with these changes Rhoades plans to institute a plan of positive incentives.
“Next year I plan to keep a respectful atmosphere in the high school and follow the handbook closely like Mr. Murphy,” Rhoades said.
Some goals Rhoades plans to have in the upcoming school year are to maintain a safe and respectful school community but also have a school climate where students enjoy coming to school.
Rhoades said, “I don’t think changing from middle school to high school will be that big of a difference but I hope to spread some of the middle school atmosphere to the high school, such as mutual respect.”
