Tyrone Area High School will hold their 12th annual student art show on Friday, May 4, 2012 in the TAM&HS Auditorium.
“I think the art show is awesome because it is an opportunity to show your school your talent, and how much you have learned from the beginning of the year,” Jessica Miller, junior, said.
Approximately 60 students are participating in this year’s art show.
“The most important difference [from past years] is the art work. It’s all new,” Mr. Feather, art teacher, said.
Feather is having local artist and Grier school art teacher, Yong Sook Kim-Lambert judge the art show.
The awards will be held from 2-3 p.m. and the display will be open to the public until 4 p.m. The art work will also be on display during the band concert on May 3.
There will be a variety of awards given to students: 1st-5th places overall, 2 merit awards per grade for the best art work, achievement awards for outstanding artistic achievements, and the People’s Choice Award.
Senior Tim Luke’s “The Sponge” painting was chosen to as the cover of the art show invitation.
“It’s strange that everyone will be looking at my work. I wish I would have worked a little harder on it,” Luke said.
