On Friday, May 4th 2012 Tyrone Area High School held the 12th Annual Art Show. Th about 134 pieces of art work were displayed in the show and 250-300 people attended the show. It took about two weeks for the preparation, although it took students many months to prepare their work.
9th grade merit award winners were Katie Burke and Morgan Wineland. 10th grade was Alexa Patton and Hannah Bilbay. 11th grade was Olivia Morrison and Skye Barnett. 12th grade was Raymond Conterras and Olivia Stever.
Out of the entire shows there was 1st to 5th place awards given. 5th place went to Alyssa Brisbin, junior, 4th place to Sarah Parker, sophomore, third went to Daron Daly also a sophomore, 2nd went to Kelly Moore, senior, and best of show went to Emily Brokenshire, also a senior. There were also many other awards including the people’s choice and achievement awards.
David Hernandez, junior, who won a People’s Choice Award for this art piece called “Peaceful Weapons”, said, “The inspiration for my art work was the tragedies going on in the Congo
Emily Brokenshire, the overall winner for her piece “Sheltered”, said, “There was a lot of good art work.”
Mr. Feather, art teacher, says, “There were very strong, high quality level pieces of art done by the students.”
