Students React to PSSA’S

By Amber Fogleman

From March 12 through March 16, the Math and Reading PSSA’s were held in TAHS. Eleventh graders took the tests as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

When students came to school on the morning on March 12, they were greeted with food and bottled water on their desk.

The students had to take the math and reading PSSA’s that week. It went from math then reading each day and math and reading on Wednesday. The PSSA’s lasted about three periods each day but four on Wednesday. Students were told that they could take as much time as they needed for the PSSA’s.

The PSSA’s for writing and science are coming up soon. On April 16 to 19, the writing PSSAs will take place and the Science PSSA’s will occur on April 23 to the 25.

“The PSSA’s were long but I think that I was ready for them and I think that I passed,” junior Mikayla Loudenslager commented.

If the students don’t pass their PSSA’s, they have to take additional courses along with completing a number of Study Island items that will help the students pass them the second time around during their senior year.
Junior Diane Cramer stated, “I think that people should pass them the first time so that they can enjoy their senior year.”
