United States gas prices are rising once again. According to the NRDC, National Resources Defense Council, the U.S consumes around 19 million barrels of oil a day, which is 25% of the global supply.
“New fuel efficiency standards enacted in 2011 will reduce gasoline consumption by 3.1 million barrels a day by 2030” stated members of NRDC.
Unfortunately the United States will never control gas prices. Nearly 90% of all oil is owned by foreign countries.
Students of Tyrone High School are victims of these rising prices.
Tifani Sprankle, junior, said “I have had to cut back on my trips to Sheetz other than to get gas. Also I ride with friends whenever possible.”
Hayley Williams, junior, said, “I have held off on getting my license to avoid having to pay for gas.”
