Boys Basketball Spotlight: Erik Wagner

Erik Wagner, Sophomore

Q: What position do you play?
A: Forward.

Q: What number are you?
A: 24.

Q: Does the Dawg Pound have an effect on the team? If so, how?
A: Yes, they make us play harder. Whenever we’re down, they raise our momentum.

Q: Why do you like basketball?
A: Because it’s a team sport.

Q: What might fans be surprised to learn about this team?
A: Half of the team had one practice before our first game, which we won.

Q: How long have you been involved in basketball?
A: Since sixth grade.

Q: How much time does your team practice?
A: Two hours a day.

Q: When and where are team practices held?
A: High school gymnasium afterschool.

Q: Who do you think is the most influential player on the team? Why?
A: Cody Dickson because his athleticism leads the team and gets our offense moving when our shots are off.

Q: Who are your coaches?
A: Coach Gripp, Coach Ramsey, and Coach Anderson.

Q: What do you think of them?
A: They’re very good leaders.

Q: What was your most memorable experience in Basketball?
A: Charles Wilson dunked over Cody Dickson at practice.

Q: Do you plan on keeping basketball in your future for after high school? If so, how?
A: I definitely will for recreational use, but if I can play for a small college, that’d be nice.
