Teachers balance babies and school

By Kylie Barony
Health Tech teacher Mrs. Taylor and business teacher Mrs. Dolney have announced their pregnancies.

Mrs. Dolney told her classes they were very excited for her. Between following up on doctors’ appointments and grading papers, her schedule is getting a little busier. Luckily, she hasn’t had any issues as far as getting work done. Balancing being a teacher, and a first time mother, Dolney believes that it won’t be hard to find a balance.

“Once the baby’s here, we’ll find the balance,” she stated.
“I’m very excited to have my first baby and I’m ready to start a family,”

Taylor announced her pregnancy earlier in the year. Her classes were also excited to hear her news but were worried because they knew she’d be leaving during the school year. Health Tech students are concerned because they have no idea who the substitute teacher will be after Mrs. Taylor leaves.

“My schedule is a little busier now because of all the doctors’ appointments, but I’m excited about the future, and wondering what to expect,” Taylor said.

Mrs. Myers, 9th grade health and science teacher, had some experience of her own when it came to finding the balance between work and caring for her children. Myers has two children: 10 year old Maria and 4 year old Anna.

Myers found the balance between being a teacher and a mother by realizing the stress is only temporary a mom needs tons of patience.

“I tried to laugh when things got tough,” Myers stated.
