Monday, January 9th to January, 13th the TAHS students took midterms. Each teacher had to give an exam for the course material learned so far in the year. . All midterm grades will be turned in with the second marking period which is January 25. Midterm grades count for ten percent of overall course grade.
The regular bell schedule was be used on Wednesday the 11th instead of the advisory schedule ,so that students could have a full period for test taking.
Chemistry teacher Mr. Funicelli who said, “[midterms] help student remember the information from the beginning of the year and it is nice for the final, because we could look back at the midterm and review.”
English teacher at Mr. Rutter said “I am giving a multiple choice test about reading comprehension, punctuation and grammar practice. They also will be required to write an essay on the topic that they were assigned. Grade 10 is writing about the novel Finding Forester and grade 11 is writing on advertising and persuasion techniques.”
Students don’t feel the same about midterms as the teachers including, junior, Alyssa Hamer says “I wish the teachers would give packet reviews. It would help me more and not make me stress over the midterms.”
Also a junior, Michaila Kruis who says “I think they are pointless. Teachers either don’t care [midterms] or take them too serious. They test us on stuff that isn’t that important or they don’t explain it enough-yet were supposed to know it and remember it”.
