Tyrone hosts pep rally to support football team

By Karah Postreich

On Friday, December 16th a pep rally was held second period for high school, middle school, and some of the elementary school students.

This pep rally was organized by Mrs. Martin and included student and teacher relays.

In the end the winner of the relays was Teacher Team Orange.

On Friday, December 9th a pep rally was held in the gym for all students.

To insure all classes were attended the high school set up an advisory

Mr. Yoder welcomed students into the gym and gave the introduction to the winter pep rally. Mr. Rhoades introduced winter sport captains. The pep rally included the cheerleaders pumping up the crowd with the band playing as well. Coach Banas then introduced the varsity football team. Franco gave some inspiring words to send the football players off on their journey. The video that the team watched the week before, I am a Champion, was shown to the entire high school and middle school. In the back of the gym there were people being wrapped up as Christmas presents. At the end the presents unwrapped themselves for the entertainment of others.

Seth Welch, junior, said “The pep rally pumped me up knowing that everyone was supporting us for one of our biggest games of the season.”

On Friday December 2nd, before the Hickory football game the high school football team was dismissed early from 8th period and herded into the gym lobby.

The team got an inspirational pep talk from Mr. Murphy, High School Dean of Students, and Mr. Yoder, High School Principal.

Afterwards they all filed into the gym to watch a video from YouTube named “I am a Champion” by Coach Flowers.

Yoder stated that the video “really spoke to the players.”

The team went on to play Hickory that night and came home with another win.
