Q & A with Mr. Rankin, Mr. Funicelli’s student teacher

Q: What teacher are you the student teacher for?
A: Mr. Funicelli.

Q: What subject are you teaching?
A: Chemistry 1.

Q: What college do you attend?
A: Penn State Main.

Q: What are you majoring in?
A: Chemistry and an option in secondary education.

Q: When are you graduating?
A: December 2011.

Q: Why did you choose to become a teacher?
A: I liked chemistry in high school. I was originally going to be an engineer but I didn’t want to travel.

Q: Did you get to choose to student teach at Tyrone?
A: No I was assigned here.

Q: Do you enjoy teaching here? Why?
A: Yes. The kids are fun, Mr. Funicelli is the man and there is a good football team.

Q: Would you work at Tyrone if you got the chance? Why or why not?
A: Yes for the same reason I enjoy teaching here.

Q: What is your favorite part of the day? Why?
A: The periods I get to teach.

Q: What is your least favorite part of the day? Why?
A: 3:15.

Q: Do you have a favorite period? Which one and why?
A: Chemistry 1 classes.

Q: What inspired you to become a teacher?
A: Mr. Rossman.

Q: Where did you graduate from high school?
A: McKeesport.

Q: Did you play any sports in high school? If so what?
A: Baseball.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Playing video games and cooking.

Q: What is your favorite subject?
A: Chemistry.

Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: “Big Lebowski.”

Q: What kind of music do you like?
A: Rap and Hip hop.

Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Kielbasa.
