Mr. McNitt’s economics class of 2011 learns the basic concepts of our free market economy system.
“Every class period runs their own individual business. Each class sells stock, elects officers, sets up departments, conducts marketing research, negotiates with vendor, maintain inventory, run’s marketing and sales and all related business functions,” McNitt said.
This class learns how to create, operate, and liquidate a business. The sale helps teach them what it takes to be an entrepreneur and what it takes to run their own business.
All economics students are required to participate in this sale.
“It is a part of their paycheck and their grade,” McNitt said.
Every year, different merchandise is sold. This year:
1st period is selling fleece jackets, 2nd period is selling Tyrone hoodies, 3rd period is selling customizable Tyrone t-shirts, 7th period is selling Franco quote t-shirts, and 8th period is selling hats.
“Students seem to love this class and wish it would go on all year.” Says McNitt, “ mostly because they get their own paychecks.”
