Community member donates anatomical horse to high school science program

By Ashley Harker and Kylie Barony

On Wednesday, January 18th, Tyrone Area High School received an anatomically correct horse model that was donated to the school from a community member.

The horse was given to the Amy Stever, TASD school board member, by Kathy Krinks, housing assistant at Penn State. Stever thought the horse would be a useful learning tool, so she gave it to Mr. Yoder, TAHS principal, who delivered it to Kathy Holsinger, anatomy and physiology teacher.

“I plan on using the horse in my anatomy class to compare human and horse organs because they are similar,” Holsinger said. “I think it’s really cool, and I’m greatly appreciative!”

A&P student Sean Klapper, senior, will help Holsinger put the model together.

“I think the horse was donated to my class so we could study a wider range of anatomy,” Klapper said. “We’ll learn a lot from it.”
