The Future Business Leaders of America, also known as FBLA/ is a course any business interested and competitive student can take. This course can be taken by any student in 9th-12th grade who is taking marketing, accounting, etc. FBLA is advised by Mrs. Dolney and Mrs. Hilling. FBLA regionals you can take a test, do a performance event, or do a project.
“There are 54 students in FBLA; this was an increase from last year when we only had 18. So we went up quite a bit, most of them seem to like this course because they seem interested in it,” Dolney said.
“Always get positive feedback from students. A lot of students put in preparation for their competitive event, so they can try to make it to states,” Dolney said.
Since 1960 FBLA has been available for business students according to Mrs. Dolney’s research. There are 3 levels for FBLA, you can go to regionals, nationals, and then states, this past Tuesday December 7th the FBLA members took the regional test. On December 16th the students involved with FBLA will be going to Dubois Business College to get their results to see who will qualify for states.
“I thought it would be a great experience and it would look good on my college application and my resume,” Kendra Noye, senior, said.
“It is a great opportunity for students to take this course. It looks great on resumes’ and college applications and get to communicate with other business students from other schools,” Mrs. Dolney said.
There is an annual field trip just like any other course or class; last year was to Kennywood to visit the park’s marketing, accounting and some technology usage.
“FBLA is a laid back organization. You have fun and you also learn something at the same time,” Alicia Kurtz, senior, said.
