Have you ever wondered where the exchange students come from? In previous years TAHS had, Javi Balvanara from Mexico, Mathia Palaia from Belgium, Elsita Balvanara from Mexico. Rebea Bartylla from Germany. This year TAHS students can get to know Maria Numa Lievano, also known as Mary-Jo, from Colombia.
Numa Lievano is currently living with the Baumgardeners, who don’t have any school children.
Numa Lievano wanted to become an exchange student because she wanted to study American culture and learn more English.
Numa Lievano said United Sates education differs from Colombia because Colombia has private schools just for girls, where as for the U S, we have public schools.
When asked what she likes about being an exchange student Numa Lievano said “ Everyone is nice to me, and I like cheerleading.”
Her favorite class is art. Because she likes to draw and paint. On the other hand, her least favorite class is AGMO because it’s hard for her to understand due to language.
Her favorite food from America, is Pop-Tarts. Her preferred flavor is S’mores. Her food of choice from Colombia is Patacona.
Numa Lievano has two older siblings, one sister, and one brother both older than her. What Numa Lievano misses most from Colombia is her family, friends, and her dog!
