Turn up the heat

By Ashley Harker and Bethany Harker, seniors

For the past month our school, TAHS has been set from 69 degrees, which is too cold for most students this time of the year.

Some of the class rooms feel warmer than others, but there are the rooms that are so frigid that some students wear their winter coats for warmth. The especially cold rooms are the girl’s locker room (We are not boys, so we cannot verify what the heating is like for them), the library, almost every downstairs classroom, and the cafeteria.

We feel that we and other students have to wear sweatshirts and unattractive clothing during the winter months because the school is not warm enough to even wear a simple t-shirt.

Yes, we know TASD is trying to save money and cut back on heat and other sources, but if it causes students to freeze they (TASD) should seriously consider raising the temperature a few degrees. This would save them (TASD) from having students complaining about being cold and may help reduce the chances of students, staff, and administration from getting sick.

Many students feel that they cannot concentrate when their class room is ice cold. This should tell our administration that our school is too cold.

The school needs to turn up the heat, so we have some warmth. Also don’t the tax payers help pay for the school? AKA the heat included? Hello, the majority of the high school students are tax payers as well; we are included in this. We do not want to see our money go to waste and pay for unnecessary needs.
