New math teacher is TAHS graduate

By Sadie Jackson

New math teacher Ms. Bradford teaches at the high school she once attended: TAHS where she now teaches grades 9-12 in pre-algebra, algebra I, PSSA math, pre-calculus, and geometry.

“I’m really, really passionate about Tyrone. I loved growing up here and in this area,” Bradford stated.

Bradford likes teaching at TAHS because she went here as a student and now as a teacher she sees a very different dynamic.

Bradford’s favorite part of her day is the morning because it’s so quiet, and there’s an anticipation of what’s going to happen.

“Ms. Bradford’s really determined because she’s a soccer coach and she has the sign in her room that says ‘I don’t need easy I just need possible, ~Soul Surfer’” Angela Miles, junior, said.

Her favorite subjects in high school were physical education because she loved sports and math because she found it challenging and interesting.

Bradford attended St. Francis University with a major in math actuary science and a minor in business administration. Her extracurricular activities included Math Counts, FCA, intramural soccer and basketball, and honors society.

Bradford lives by the quote, “Be the change that you want to see in the world,” and this can be seen on a poster in her room.

Bradford enjoys rock climbing, listening to non-rock music, and eating Mexican food.
Something she would like the students to know about herself is that she is the girl’s soccer coach. To be a coach, Bradford has to keep her perspective in mind by knowing her progress. When she is teaching her energy is channeled into that, but when she steps on the field her energy output changes; she becomes a coach.

“I think I am able to juggle both because I am passionate about both teaching math and coaching soccer. It is easy to get burned out doing something you don’t love, but if you love what you are doing, you can invest yourself in it and be very happy doing it. I believe this is the place I am at, which allows for me to juggle both happily,” Bradford stated.
